The Human Resource Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Community Human Services, a nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of HR operations, contributing to a healthy, inclusive, trauma informed, and mission-driven workplace culture. The HR Coordinator will provide support across key human resource functions, including personnel records management, onboarding new staff, training, employee relations, performance management, etc.
Reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resource Coordinator works closely with leadership and staff to help foster an environment rooted in dignity, equity, and compassion. This role requires a high level of discretion, empathy, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to supporting staff who work on the front lines with those experiencing housing and food insecurity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain employee records and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to dat
Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment, changes, and inquiries
Process background checks and new hire paperwork
Obtain and maintain train the trainer certifications to implement training across the organization, i.e. CPR, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, crisis prevention, etc.
Facilitate New Hire Orientation
Provide administrative support to the Director of HR including filing, data entry, and preparing reports
Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
Enrich employment experience for staff
Maintain established relationships with benefits and service providers
Assist with recruitment

Through a combination of experience and education, the HR Coordinator will have:
General HR knowledge
Familiarity with Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction
Interpersonalskills
Excellent communication skills across multiple disciplines and platforms, including verbal, written and public speaking
Conflict resolution, facilitation, and mediation skills used with small and large groups to maintain and improve employee relations
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Social Work, Psychology or similar program of study is preferred OR 3 years of relevant work experience in the human resources field.
Current PA criminal history and Federal criminal history clearances are required prior to start date.
